We wished the meeting space of our studio used for model-making, for dining with guests, and etc. We wanted many chairs, but they should not make the space even smaller or limit our activity options. We also wanted them as light as possible to go anywhere to parents' home or the garden. Yet, we could not give up fluffiness like sofa. Once we started to make a wish list, we could not find anything match to it in ready-made ones. Thus, we decided to go for custom made.

When we compare interior to outfits, denim seemed to be a desirable material as seat fabric, since it fits to any style. Also vintage denim becomes more special so that it is suitable to change over time. In budget-wise, we wanted to make the most investment in the right part. 'Shoki chairs' commonly used for traditional occasions at shrines and temples in Japan seemed to be good structure for legs. It also matched to our need, which is to minimize the size to stock. If we simply make a luxurious seat like sofa on top of shoki legs, we can separate them into two parts to store. After series of trials and errors, what came out is not defined either as stools, sofas, or ottomans. It is served exclusively for our seating, identified as something in-between.
